Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has accused Amit Shah of being part of the nexus which ensured deposits worth Rs 500 crore in the Ahmadabad Cooperative Bank, in which Shah is one of the Directors.

Admitting that Shah himself may not have deposited the amount yet we are going to raise the issue, said Chavan.

BJP Spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad had earlier threatened to sue Congress for dragging the names of Prime Minister and BJP President in unsubstantiated charges. On the issue of Amit Shah’s involvement in the Ahmadabad Coop Bank Prasad said that Shah is just one of the Directors in the Bank.

BJP cooperators, in fact have been quoting the case of Ahmadabad Co-op Bank to prove that this govt is thoroughly impartial as it is not sparing even the BJP controlled banks.

“Interestingly, three days after 500 crore was deposited in the bank, there was a ban imposed on cooperative banks from doing business,” he claimed. Chavan said the Congress has demanded a white paper and also a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the deposits made in all the banks on or before November 8, and also deposits made immediately thereafter.

Chavan demanded that the Gujarat government release footage of the CDs of the CCTV cameras installed at the Ashram Road Branch, “the headquarters-branch of the Ahmedabad District Cooperative bank”, reports PTI.
