Agrifed working to reduce dependence on coal

The newly established Multi-State Cooperative- Agriculture Marketing & Processing Cooperative Federation Ltd (Agrifed) organized a webinar on “Pellet to Power” last week in which the representatives from Ministry of Power, NTPC, Jindal Power and others were present.

Sharing the meeting’s details with the Indian Cooperative correspondent Agrifed Managing Director Jaskaran Singh said, “In the meeting the discussion was held on creating the ecosystem for providing Biomass Pellet to the Power Industries. Agrifed has been introduced to act as a leading facilitator from farm producers to power producers”.

“We will work together to reduce the dependence of power plants on coal to biomass. This will not only save the foreign exchange but also help in curbing the emission of harmful gases”, he added.

Meanwhile, Agrifed released the corrigendum for empanelment of manufactures for supply of pellets and briquettes to state government and other Indian & Foreign buyers. The agri federation will help in checking the price of biomass pellets and briquettes.
