Giving a taste of what cooperative can do for the people of Patna, Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Singh has declared his commitment to selling onions at low prices.
With the help of Nafed, Biscomaun will sell onions at the rate of Rs 35 kg to the residents of Patna , declared Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Singh.
Announcing 22nd November as the date when Biscomaun will start selling onions at this rate, Sunil informed that besides the Biscomaun Bhawan, it would be sold at all the major spots in the town.
We want a maximum number of people to benefit from this and would give 2 kgs to each buyer, said Sunil. He also declared ”even if we suffer losses it does not matter as we are committed to serving the general public.
“Sunil is trying his best to make the idea of cooperative attractive by touching peoples’ life in everyday business”, said one of his associates. Remember his move during Chatha when he lowered the rate of apple for the benefit of people and to the detriment of traders, he asked.
It bears recall that Bihar Marketing Cooperative Federation Biscomaun sold Kashmiri apples at a much lower rate compared to the market, through its sales counters spread across the state. The famed Kashmiri apples could be spotted at Biscomaun sale counters at the rate of Rs 75 per Kg.
Talking to Indian Cooperative later, Sunil said “Have you heard about fixed prices for apple anywhere in India? It goes to the credit of co-operative in general and Biscomaun & Nafed in particular to have been able to do that.
Even State Agriculture Minister Prem Kumar and Cooperative Minister Rana Randhir Singh had congratulated Biscomaun for their yeoman’s work.
Biscomaun hogged the media headlines for the first time when with the help of IFFCO it had reduced the rate of urea driving black marketeers out of business in Bihar.
