The Raigad (Maharashtra) based Adarsha Nagari Sahakari Patsanstha’s ‘Ananya Saving Scheme’ for the children between 5-17 years, is coming up with good results and under this scheme Rs 3 crore as deposits has been collected.

“We had launched the scheme last year to encourage children to save money and in the span of one year the scheme has met with a positive response”, said Suresh Patil, founder chairman of the society.

He said under the scheme, we have collected Rs 3 crore from children as deposits. We have distributed a piggy bank to the children and the key is with the society. The children’s parents used to come to deposit their money in their accounts. Around 5,500 accounts have been opened so far.

Patil further said that many times we have heard from Union Minister Parshottam Rupala about the Bal Gopal Bank in Gujarat, which encourages children to save money from the beginning and put it into their own accounts.

Adarsha Nagari Sahakari Patsanstha was established in 1998 and in a short span of time the society has done well. More than 18k shareholders are associated with the society.
