Aavin leads white revolution in Tamil Nadu

Dindigul Asavin in Tamil Nadu has achieved the highest procurement of high-quality milk with 63,000 litres per day from cooperative societies, according to Aavin General Manager S. Thillai Natarajan, reports Hindu.

The state government had been encouraging milk producers and cooperatives societies with high incentives and financial assistance to boost milk production, he said.

Aavin had been motivating the best performing milk producers and cooperative societies with prizes and certificates. The Milk Producers’ Cooperative Society at Kovilpatti village in Natham block topped in the district by supplying 10 lakh litres of quality milk to Aavin last year, followed by Devathur society which supplied 7.5 lakh litres.

The Milk Producers’ Cooperative Societies at Nochi Odaipatti, Poolampatti, Kuravar Colony in Natham, Pujarigoundenpatti, Thoppampatti, Odaipatti, Sanarpatti and Konaipatti villages were also among the top 10 societies in the district, he added.

A total sum of Rs. 6.85 lakh was disbursed to 300 farmers who supplied the highest quantum of quality milk.
