A total of 8,668 new multi-purpose cooperatives (PACS, dairy, and fishery) have been established from February 15, 2023, to November 10, 2024.
Of these, 3,415 societies have been formed as PACS, while 4,829 and 424 societies have been established in the dairy and fishery sectors, respectively.
It’s worth noting that last year, the central government approved an ambitious plan to set up 200,000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), dairy, and fisheries cooperatives across the country over the next five years.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Cooperation, aims to “strengthen the cooperative movement in the country and deepen its reach at the grassroots level.
