The cooperatives of Himachal Pradesh may have to contribute three percent of their profits toward the education fund as the state government proposed to amend the Himachal Pradesh Cooperative Societies Rules 1971.
Meanwhile, the cooperators and others have been given time to send their reactions on the matter within two weeks and thereafter the gazette notification will be released.
There are 5,247 cooperatives registered in the state. It is being said that the chapter on the Cooperative Education Fund has been inserted in the rules.
As per the proposed amendment, the cooperatives will have to contribute education funds from this year.
