Department of Cooperation has urged cooperative housing societies in Pimpri Chinchwad and Pune to ensure their members cast votes on February 21, reports Times of India.
There are more than 16,000 societies in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad but due to a shortage of manpower, the officials were able to contact the major societies.
A cooperative official is quoted saying they have put up banners and posters urging people to vote.
The state election commission has promised a certificate to societies which record a 100% turnout.
