Under the Central Sector Scheme for “Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs),” the government has successfully registered all 10,000 targeted FPOs. Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ramnath Thakur, shared this update in a written Rajya Sabha reply.
Each receives Rs 18 lakh as management cost over three years, matching equity grants of up to Rs 15 lakh, and credit guarantee facilities of up to Rs 2 crore for project loans from eligible institutions.
States and the Centre are jointly helping these FPOs secure essential licenses for seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and market operations, enabling them to operate as agribusiness enterprises.
To expand market access, FPOs are being integrated with e-NAM, ONDC, and GeM platforms. Training is provided digitally for flexibility, alongside weekly webinars to spread awareness of government schemes and promote market linkages.
These measures have boosted their performance, leading to a combined turnover of Rs 5,035.5 crore as of June 30, 2025.
