When CEO is made to listen to ordinary member!

When CEO is made to listen to ordinary member!

Here is a story involving the trio of the top management of a multi state co-op, an ordinary member and the cooperative news portal Indian Cooperative. And it was not the first time either.

Indian Cooperative is partly a reason for the existence of the story by making a powerful CEO respond to a common member of a co-op society. The story relates to the Pune based multi state co-op bank Janata Sahakari Bank and the victim who was denied invitation to AGM year after year was Dasharath Gawade.

Gawade complained to Indian Cooperative that despite being a delegate he is never invited by the Pune based Janata Sahakari Bank for its AGM. And this has been happening repeatedly since a long time.

Shocked at the blatant violation of cooperative principles Indian Cooperative forwarded the mail to the concerned Multi State Scheduled Bank named Janata Sahakari Bank Ltd based in Pune. Possibly aware of the media power as well as the fear of a negative publicity, Jayant Kashinath Kakatkar, Officiating Chief Executive Officer of the UCB responded promptly. And the issue was resolved.

Encouraged by UCB’s reponse to the intervention of Indian Cooperative in the matter, the concerned member reacts in the following words

Dear Indian Cooperative

Thank you very much for the guidance given to me. With your advice and powerful support the Janata sahakari bank is forced to reply and deal with my problem. Expect the same support and guidance in future from you. With your prompt action things have become very simple for a common man like me.

Thanks once again and regards.

D U Gawade

Following is the chronology of events; first Dashrath writes to us, we forward his mail to Janata Sahakari Bank and its CEO responds. All the letters have been reproduced verbatim.

Dashrath wrote:

Dear Sir

I and many other share holders were not invited for the AGM of the subject bank last four years. My share holder membership No is -112182.Please let me know where and how to complain so that bank will not make such mistakes.

I have already given them my e-mail id and phone no.

Please help.

Reacting Indian Cooperative forwarded the mail to the concerned Multi State Scheduled Bank Janata Sahakari Bank Ltd based in Pune. Jayant Kashinath Kakatkar, Officiating Chief Executive Officer of the UCB responded promptly with these words:

Dear Mr Dashrath

We are in receipt of your mail. First of all, we regret the inconvenience caused to you in the process.

Annual General meeting of the bank was scheduled on 19.08.2017 for the F.Y. 2016-17. Accordingly, the bank has issued Notice to all the Shareholders from 29.07.2017, in all 167175 shareholders.

Simultaneously, the same was published in the Local news paper, “Daily Loksatta” on 01.08.2017 only. The Notice was also published on the bank’s website from the said date. By this bank has complied with all the Regulatory requirements in this regard.

Unfortunately it was noticed on 04.08.2017 from few of the shareholders that there was a printing mistake for few number of notices (20000). Page no 1 and 4 was of last year and page no 2 and 3 related to current year.

We once again put our apology for the inconvenience caused to you in the process and assure you of our best service in the future.

Thanks & Regards

Jayant Kashinath Kakatkar
