When a co-op bank comes to a woman’s help!

The new initiative of the Dehradun District Cooperative Bank of insuring those taking loans from the bank proved handy for a poor woman Prema Devi of Harola village of the district. Her husband Devnarayan had died just two months after taking the loan.

The Insurance Company DHFL paid the remaining dues to the bank leaving the woman free of any loan obligation. This was the first case of its kind in the district, informed Dehradun District Cooperative Bank Chairman K S Rana in a press conference.

Talking to media Rana said Dehradun District Cooperative Bank had entered into an MoU with DHFL life insurance company last year in which anybody taking loans getting insured automatically.

The cheque of the settlement amount was paid in the Kachhari Headquarters of the Bank last week. The insurance amount of Rs 2.5 lakh was also paid to Prema Devi from the Dehradun District Cooperative Bank. Bank chairman Dr K.S.Rana gave the cheque to her.

On this occasion, Cooperative bank, Vice Chairman, Manvendra Singh, Managing Director, J.K.Visht, B.S.Rawat, DHFL State head, Mohan Singh Rana and others were present.

Dehradun District Cooperative bank has 21 branches located in Dehradun region and. Bank has also been active in adopting the latest developments in the field of technology.
