Vishwas Bank’s Chairman remembers Eknath

bankIn a mail sent to Indian Cooperative Vishwas Thakur, the Chairman of Vishwas Co-Operative Bank paid tributes to the departed cooperative leader Eknath Thakur. Fighting cancer for a long Saraswat Bank’s charismatic leader Shri Eknath Thakur passed away on Thursday in Mumbai.

In the mail Vishwas remembered Eknath Thakur as the true kartvya yogi who dedicated his life to the uplift of the poor. He wrote that the Saraswat Bank Chairman was a source of inspiration for many as he singlehanded earned respectability for urban cooperative banks in the hearts of the people.

What is noteworthy is that Vishwas Thakur himself has the distinction of being the youngest Chairman of a bank in the country at the age of 27. It was him only who founded Nashik based Vishwas Co-Operative Bank.

The UCB is doing fine for itself with Vishwas trying to widen its base through social activities. His fondness for Eknath Thakur is understandable given similarity in their approaches.
