As predicted in these columns, Arun Kumar Jain has won the election of Delhi based Vaish Cooperative Adarsh Bank by a huge margin against the woman candidate Mrs. Shikha Garg. The election for the lone post of Chairman was held on Sunday last week.

In the election, 1,956 voters cast their votes, out of which Jain received 1778 votes whereas his rival Mrs. Garg got only 178 votes. The result was announced by G S Chaturvedi appointed as the Returning Officer to oversee the election process of the bank.

The voting was held at Nutan Marathi Sr. Sec. School, Paharganj, Delhi.

The bank’s board consists of 12 elected directors out of which 11 have been elected unopposed earlier. The fight was only for one seat i.e. for the post of the Chairman in which Jain and Mrs. Garg were in the race. Besides, S N Aggarwal has been re-elected as the Vice-Chairman of the bank.

Talking to this correspondent after the results the newly elected Chairman Arun Kumar Jain said, “I have won the bank election with huge margins which show that the members have a lot of trust in me and I assure that I will not betray their faith. I am very thankful to them”.

“Earlier too, I had been the chairman and done a lot for the growth of the bank. This result is an appreciation of good works done by our team in the past. Me and my team will work together in the development of the bank”, Jain added.

After the declaration of the result, Jain was profusely garlanded and cheered by his supporters.

The other elected directors include Payal Jain, Prabha Jain, Ajit Prashad Jain, Anil Kumar Jain, Dheeraj Jain, Nirmal Jain, Om Prakash Gupta, Sachin Jain, Sanjeev Jain and Satish Chand Jain.

The bank has 11 branches across Delhi. Out of these 11 branches, six branches i.e. Darya Ganj, Karol Bagh, Azadpur, East of Kailash, Gandhi Nagar & Rohini are housed in the bank’s own premises.

Meanwhile, employees of the bank expect that the newly elected Chairman would address their demands of increment and promotion, which have been denied to them for many years.
