UP State Co-op Bank: Minister takes stock of Cyber Security Centre

Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Minister Mukut Bihari Verma last week took stock of the situation of the newly constructed Cyber Security Centre established by the apex bank-UP State Cooperative Bank in its headquarters.

The Minister claimed UP State Cooperative Bank is the only bank after Gujarat State Cooperative Bank which has set up a cyber security center with high technology. With this, the DCCBs and co-op societies running under the CBS will be protected from online fraud. This will also protect the interest of depositors, he said.

The Minister also lauded the work of Cyber Security Cell of the bank and expected that digital transactions of all the banks/societies in the cooperative sector should be monitored through this.

The Cooperative Minister also reviewed the bank’s financial position and said the bank has crossed the business mix of more than Rs 17k crore and earned a net profit of Rs 45 crore which is the highest in the history of the bank. Satisfied with the working business of the bank in the cooperative sector, the Reserve Bank of India has given permission to the bank to open 13 more branches in the state, Verma noted.

Talking to Indian Cooperative, the Bank MD Bhupendra Vishnoi who accompanied the Minister said, “We have set up the cyber security centre in our headquarters in Lucknow. The estimated cost of the centre is about Rs 4 crore and after the Gujarat SCB, our bank is second in the co-operative sector”, he added.

Later on, Verma shared the news through social media and wrote, “Today chaired the review meeting of the bank held at the headquarters of Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank Limited in Lucknow. On this occasion, I also took stock of the situation of the cyber security system of the bank. Cyber Security System is a great way to keep data, computers, networks and software safe by keeping them away from cyber-attacks”, he tweeted.

It bears recall that recently the bank hogged the media attention when the FIR was lodged against several officials of the bank for their involvement in the illegal recruitment done in the cooperative dept. during the Samajwadi Party regime in the state.
