NCP leader and MLA from Shirala (Maharashtra) Mansinghrao Naik and Jayashree Patil have been elected unopposed as the Chairman and Vice-Chairperson of Sangli District Cooperative Bank, in an election held on Monday.
This is for the first time that a woman director has received the honour of becoming Vice Chairperson of Sangli DCCB. Naik and Jayashree Patil replaced Diliprao Lalsaheb Patil and Sangram Singh Deshmukh.
After the election, the new chairman and vice-chairman were felicitated by the board of directors. After the declaration of the results, Naik was profusely garlanded and cheered by his supporters.
Happy with the election results, Naik, first of all, thanked Minister for Water Resources Jayant Patil, Minister of State Vishwajeet Kadam, MLA Anil Babar, and BJP directors for reposing faith in me and giving me a big responsibility. I, along with the other board members will work to help the farmers in all possible ways.
The newly elected bank’s Vice President Patil said, “I thanked the leaders and all the directors for their unanimous election. Decisions will soon be taken in the interest of farmers and PACs societies to strengthen them. We will work hard to take the bank to newer heights.
It bears recall that the election of the bank board was held on 21st November and the cooperative panel led by NCP, Congress, and Shiv Sena won 17 seats while 4 were won by the BJP led panel.
Earlier, Maharashtra water resources minister Jayant Patil inaugurated the divisional office of Sangli District Cooperative Bank at Islampur. Sangli DCCB is also one of those co-op banks of Maharashtra which grabbed news recently for awaiting SC direction on the scrapped notes issue.
It bears recall that the elections of several co-ops of Maharashtra including that of Sangali DCCB were delayed for months due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns.
