Rana inaugurates Biscomaun service centre

During the AGM of the  Gopalganj Central Cooperative Bank, Bihar Cooperative Minister Rana Randhir Singh  said that for the development of cooperatives the state and the central government are working together. He praised the role played by PACS chairmen in improving the life of farmers in this connection.

On this occasion Rana digitally inaugurated the 4th Farmers Service Centre of Biscomaun in Bhorey block of Gopalganj district and the bank’s ATMs. The ATMs have been installed at Manjha, Karauli and Kateya.

The occasion was the AGM of Bihar based 100 years old cooperative bank, Gopalganj Central Cooperative Bank which was earlier inaugurated by Bihar Cooperative Minister Rana Randhir Singh in Gopalganj Club House.

The DCCB has been doing fairly well as borne out by the statement of its MD during the AGM. ” In the last financial year 2016-17 the bank earned a net profit of Rs 46 lakh, had a deposit base of about 442 core and loans & advances of over Rs 106 crore. The bank has performed well in this FY compared to the previous financial year 2015-16″, said bank’s Managing Director Baban Mishra while reading the financial report.

In his remarks on the occasion, Cooperation Minister Rana said “The PACCS societies in Bihar are providing good quality urea to farmers at a reasonable rate. For the country’s development, the growth of villages should be the first priority. We are planning to computerize all PACCS societies”, he added.

NAFSCOB Vice-Chairman Ramesh Chandra Chaubey who was also the chairman of Bihar State Co-op Bank and more than 250 delegates were present on the occasion. Sunil Singh-Biscomaun Chairman was however was conspicuous by his absence. He is away in Sri Lanka attending ICA-AP meet, informed his friends.

Gopalganj Central Cooperative Bank Chairman and the man behind this successful show Mahesh Rai said “Our bank is focusing on achieving the ISO certification and we have urged the minister to give license of PDS to PACCS societies for generating more revenues. The subsidy for agricultural inputs given by the state government to farmers should be transferred through PACCS societies”, Rai added.

Mahesh Rai also revealed that the co-operatives are focusing on egg farming in Gopalganj District and have sought help from NABARD in this regard. Rai is also on the board of Bihar Marketing Federation BISCOMAUN.
