Politics goes unabated in Bhopal bank

shivraj singh chauhanBJP has suspended Vijay Tiwari former president of Bhopal district cooperative bank because he has filed a petition seeking postponement of the election. After the assembly poll Mr Tiwari who had resigned at the behest of the party wants to become president once again but this is not acceptable to the party.

The BJP has taken a decision not to allow former presidents and chairman to seek re-election. Many former presidents including Tiwari are not in agreement with this decision of the party. The Bhopal district cooperative bank has an annual turnover of Rs 500 crore and more than a lakh people are connected to the bank through a network of 279 cooperative societies.

Tiwari had made an appeal before the cooperative department opposing incorporation of 34 new societies in the voters’ list. He says the incompetent people have deliberately been made members in order to check him.

Responding to his appeal, the cooperative dept authorities issued orders to postpone the poll as well as to amend the voters’ list within 90 days. The election officer announced the postponement of the poll.

Some BJP leaders enraged by Tiwari’s suspension have begun insinuating that Roop Singh Sengar former president of the bank in Datiya is going to be made the president again.
