Mukund Abhyankar, the President of NAFCUB, the apex body of more than 1600 urban cooperative banks has paid tribute to Eknath Thakur in glowing words. The ace cooperator credited with ushering in an era of “yes UCB can also do it” was cremated on Friday amidst a huge gathering of family and friends.
Abhyankar’s words:
I have lost in Shri Eknath Thakur, a Brave Friend, Motivator to all his subordinates, Inspiration to all business associates and clients.
Besides, he was a warrior for the cause of urban co-operative banking movement of India. With a missionary zeal and methodical persistent approach he took Saraswat Bank from 8 thousand to 38 thousand crores business mix.
Naturally his bank consistently stood at “Número Uno”in all 1600 UCBs of India.
This loss of the UCB sector of our country can be made up, though partly, only through increased hand holding and mutual solidarity of all persons and institutions in this sector. Personally his void will be felt for long.
