MUCBF holds 44th AGM; delegates of more than 350 UCBs attend

Maharashtra Urban Cooperative Banks Federation (MUCBF) organized its 44th Annual General Meeting on Saturday in Mumbai, which was attended by the representatives of more than 350 urban cooperative banks.

During the meeting, 25 urban cooperative banks won the award for the best performance in eight categories. The leading banks of Maharashtra namely Saraswat Cooperative Bank, TJSB Sahakari Bank and SVC Cooperative Bank received the award in the category of having deposits above Rs 5000 crore.

Interestingly, it was also the first AGM, which was conducted under the chairmanship of Ajay Barmecha. A man with a friendly disposition, Barmecha is the one whose birth day fell on the day of NAFCUB AGM where he was felicitated by the leaders at the NCUI Auditorium recently.

Addressing the participants, Barmecha said that the MUCBF is to keep on raising the issues pertaining to the cooperative banking sector before the concerned authorities as well as ministers. The federation writes letters to the RBI for resolving the issues related to the sector on a continuous basis, he stated.

On this occasion, he informed the participants about the recent developments in the UCB sector and about the Maharashtra UCBs federation’s role in resolving the issues. Barmecha also shared highlights about the recent meeting of RBI’s Standing Advisory Committee and the meeting held with RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

He also informed about the recently conducted Election of the federation. He said the year is also important as the federation was given recognition as State Level Apex Training Institute by the State Government of Maharashtra.

The Federation is also included in the panel of state level recruitment agencies by Commissioner of Co-operation, Barmecha informed. The Federation organized nine training programs for the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Directors and other representatives from Urban Cooperative Banks in the 2022-23 FY.

On the occasion, delegates raised many issues before the chair and asked the Federation to take them up with the concerned authorities.

The meeting was attended by the several leaders of the sector including Saraswat Bank Director K V Rangnekar, Cosmos Bank Chairman Milind Kale, Sunil Omprakash Deora, Shashitai Ahire, and others.

Nafcub Chairman Jyotindra Mehta was also invited as a guest of honour but due to a delayed flight he could barely make it. The former Chairman of MUCBF Vidyadhar Anaskar was conspicuous by his absence.

The Federation Vice-Chairperson Vaishali Awade proposed a vote of thanks.

MUCBF CEO Sayali Bhoir anchored the event successfully.
