The veteran co-operator and one of the founding members of Sahakar Bharati, Satish Marathe has been reappointed for another term of four years on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India. His reappointment was welcomed by the co-operators cutting across party lines.
The RBI notification and communication to Marathe (a copy of which is with Indian Cooperative) reads, “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the following proposals of the Department of Financial Services”.
“Re-nomination/Re-appointment of the following persons recommended by the Search Committee as part-time, Non-official Directors/Members, for a further period of four years, after completion of their present tenure, from the date of notification of the re-nomination/re-appointment or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Shri Satish Kashinath Marathe and Shri Swaminathan Gururmurthy on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) under section 8(1)(c) of the RBI Act”, it further reads.
As soon as the news of his re-appointment got viral on social media, his fans, friends, well-wishers and others lost no time in congratulating him. Marathe’s page on Facebook is overflowing with congratulatory messages. He is also one of the few who have had the luck to work with the doyen of the cooperative world – Laxmanrao Inamdar.
“CONGRATULATIONS to SatishJi Marathe on being reappointed as Director RBI (Central Board) for next four years”, said Jyotindra Mehta his friend while reacting to Marathe’s reappointment into RBI.
One of his followers, Prashant Karulkar wrote, ” Congratulations to Shri Satish Marathe sir for re-appointment as Director at Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for next four years”. ” Sir, Heartiest Congratulations on your reappointment as Director on the Central Board of Reserve Bank of India for another term of four years! A rare honour indeed!, another wrote.
Marathe was the former Secretary, Mumbai Branch, All India Treasurer at Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and was also former General Manager at Dombivli Nagari Sahakari Bank. He was also CEO and Chairman at Janakalyan Sahakari Bank and United Western Bank respectively. Marathe was also on the board of NCDC and directors at Rajkot Nagarik Sahakari Bank.
