The high profile cooperator from Pune, Dr Mukund Abhyankar has been appointed as the Group Chairman of the Cosmos Co-operative Bank and Chartered Accountant Mr Milind Kale has been appointed as the Chairman of Cosmos Bank. Abhyankar would also oversee Cosmos’s subsidiary Cosmos e-Solutions and Services Pvt. Ltd.
The news was shared by Vikrant Ponkshe the Managing Director of Cosmos Bank.
Later talking to Indian Cooperative Abhyankar said that it was done unanimously and in fact the outgoing Chairman Mr Krishnakumar Goyal was pressurizing us to be relieved. “He had committed to give us two and a half years which he did gracefully”, Abhyankar added.
These changes of guards took place in the recently held meeting of the Board of Directors. Informed sources confide that it is actually a succession plan of Mukund Abhyankar. The newly elected Chairman Kale is young and competent. He is poised to play a long inning.
Praising Kale Abhyankar said” he is just 53 years old; has vision and financial expertise to take cosmos bank to new heights.”
Abhyankar himself has been associated with Cosmos Bank for more than last 35 years and had been chairman of Cosmos Bank a number of times in the past. He also has the distinction of being associated with the RBI and other national level institutes and federations such as NAFCUB, TAFCUB etc.
Last year Abhyankar was unanimously elected as the Chairman of NAFCUB for 5 years bringing the Chairmanship of NAFCUB to Maharashtra after 40 years after Dr. Rege. He is invited by RBI as an Expert Member on the Standing Advisory Committee on UCB’s since last 6 years.

A versatile individual, Milind Kale easily mingles in various fields like education, co-operatives, journalism and social work.
