Corona: Mehta jubilant at contributions made by co-op sector

The Cooperative sector has once again proved that it does not lag when a national emergency like the Covid 19 hits the country, claimed NAFCUB President Jyotindra Mehta while listing the donations made by several co-op organizations to the CM and the PM Relief Funds respectively.

“Not only big entities like IFFCO and Kribhco, but also the smallest thrift and credit societies have contributed their bit in supporting governments in fighting this pandemic”, underlined the Nafucb President.

”The global pandemic COVID-19 has affected almost all the countries of the World. Even the most developed and advanced countries are reeling under its impact. In India too, the Government is taking all measures to minimize the impact of the virus. In these trying times, it becomes our duty to support government initiatives by contributing whatever we can” he said.

Jyotindra Mehta had earlier sent a letter to all the urban cooperative banks across India calling upon them to contribute 2% of their net profits towards relief funds.

Some of the contributions made by various institutions in the cooperative sector that are known to us are given here. There are many more who have not yet sent us the information.
