UP Co-op Minister vows to face-lift DCCBs

Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Minister Mukut Bihari Verma has vowed to equip all the co-operative banks of the state with latest technologies including CBS facilities. Out of 16 DCCBs, only 7 have CBS facilities in the state so far.

Realizing that the northern Indian states such as UP and Bihar had been a laggard as far as cooperative movement is concerned, Verma resolved to bring it at par with that of co-ops of Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Minister admitted that cooperative alone can bring about a change in the lives of poor families. Cooperative Societies are the soul of the cooperative movement and there is a need to empower them at every level, he asserted.

Verma said these while inaugurating CBS facility in Bahraich District Cooperative Bank. He talked of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project of ‘Digital India’ and vowed to contribute towards it through digitizing the cooperatives of the state.

It bears recall that Kaiserganj which falls in Bahraich district is the assembly constituency of the cooperative minister.

Verma shared the news through social media with photographs and wrote “Today successfully launched the CBS facility in Bahraich District Cooperative Bank. Office bearers of Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank also participated. Transforming India-Digital India (Power To Empower)”, he wrote.

While addressing the gathering he said “In Uttar Pradesh, there are 16 district cooperative banks which are having 394 branches. We are planning to adopt CBS facility in all branches of banks but so far only seven banks have been computerized”.

On the occasion, he urged officials and employees of Cooperative Banks to adopt CBS and said this will give them a new opportunity to gain the general public’s confidence. Verma distributed CBS passbooks to three customers of the bank.

Former MP Padmasen Chaudhary, BJP Zila Adhyaksh Gulab Chandra Shukla and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
