Co-op Conference: Cooperators gravitate to Jalgaon

Maharashtra based Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank is organizing a two day ‘All India Urban Cooperative Banking Summit in collaboration with Sahakar Bharati at Jalgaon on 18 and 19th January. The high-voltage event is likely to be inaugurated by the Union Minister of State for Finance Shiv Pratap Shukla.

Elaborating on the details of the Summit, the bank Chairman Anil Rao said  “We have also invited Maharashtra Cooperative Minister Subhash Deshmukh to become a part of the event but his participation is not yet confirmed”, Rao claimed.

The summit will discuss, among other things, issues such as technological changes, capacity building and business strategies to face the challenges in the increasingly complex environment.

Around 250 delegates including Chairmen, Senior Directors, CEOs of more than 70 Urban Cooperative Banks will take part in the summit”, Anil Rao said to this correspondent on the phone.

Sanjay Nagmoti, General Manager, Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank who is the coordinator of the Summit said “It will provide a platform for the key stakeholders like Senior Officials from RBI, Representatives of Associations / Federations of Cooperative Banks and delegates from various Co-operative Banks to interact with the intent to strengthen the cooperative banking as well as explore the potentials for healthy growth of the co-operative movement”, he said.

Nagmoti further said the Summit will focus on redefining the cooperative banking movement. The Summit includes panel discussions and knowledge presentations on topics related to banking and technology.

Several prominent cooperators like Sahakar Bharati President Jyotindrabhai Mehta, Patron Satish Marathe, Uday Joshi would be present on the occasion.

Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank was established in 1979 and was the first bank that acquired the Scheduled status in the North Maharashtra region in 2001. It has a business mix of Rs 2200 crore and a network of 39 branches across the state. The Bank has earned a net profit of Rs 8.22 crore in the last financial year.
