Abhilaksh Likhi, Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies issued a circular to all multi-state cooperative societies across the country to file their Annual Returns for the year 2016-17 and 2017-18 before 15.01.2019.
The circular letter issued has the subject “Filling of Annual Returns for the year 2016-17 & 2017-18 under section 120 of MSCS Act, 2002”.
The letter reads, “It has been noticed that a number of multi-state Cooperative Societies have not filed hard copy of their return for the years 2016-17 & 2017-18 under section 120 of MSCS Act, 2002 not uploaded the same on the departmental website or both”.
“Therefore, a last & final opportunity for filing the returns is provided and directed to upload the return in the website of Central Registrar in the manner as already mentioned and a hard copy of the same shall be sent to following address, Section Officer, L & M Section, Room No- 388, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Dept. of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare, Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi-110001”, it further reads.
Warning the societies the registrar has written, “If the aforementioned returns are not received in this office on or before 15.01.2019 and or not updated in the website on the above said date, It shall be presumed that the concerned multi-state Cooperative Society is not functioning as per the provisions of the MSCS Act, 2002 and Rules made thereunder, and appropriate action for winding up of the said society under section 86 of the act shall be initiated as per the provision of MSCS Act, 2002”, according the circular issued by Central Registrar.
There are around 64 Multi-State Urban Cooperative Banks and about 1500 Urban Cooperative Banks in the country.
