In the polls to the Bhopal Cooperative Bank, rebels seem to have made things still more difficult for the BJP. On the one hand, the party organization is putting pressure on rebels to withdraw their nominations, on the other rebels worry their nominations are being sought to be annulled on one pretext or another.
Encouraged by a rebellion in the BJP, the Congress has fielded seven candidates including the wife of Bhopal district Congress (rural) President Avnish Bhargava. The Congress’s strategy is to get the BJP official candidates defeated by supporting the rebels.
Mr. Bhargava has alleged that former BJP legislator Bhaktapal Singh who is considered a strong contender for the bank Presidentship had come to the bank with his supporters to tamper with records. Bhargava said by the time he arrived the scene , Bhaktapal Singh had gone.
