Amravati DCCB: Massive election machine ticks for electing BoD

The massive process of selecting delegates from 1200 PACS and electing a Board out of them has been set in motion in the Maharashtra based Amravati District Cooperative Bank. The schedule for the final casting of votes would be known shortly.

Readers would recall that the bank hogged the media headlines in the wake of misappropriation of funds and the state government superseding the board of the bank. And the government had appointed the administrator in the bank. The police investigation is still going on in the matter related to the fund diversion in mutual funds.

Talking to Indian Cooperative the bank CEO Kolwadkar said, “The process of election in the bank has been started and over 1200 primary level cooperative societies have sent the names of delegates for becoming voters in the election”.

“The bank had done the scrutiny of their papers and sent the list to the returning office. If the name of a voter is cut during the scrutiny then he/she can file their objection before 10th August 2021. The final list of voters would be published on 13th August 2021. After this the RO will announce the election schedule “, said Kolwadkar to this correspondent on the phone.

It is reported that in the process of finalizing the voter list the 27 percent of cooperatives have been removed. In these 27 percent societies, 17 percent are in liquidation and the registration of 10 percent co-ops was cancelled.

Sources close to the bank said that there are about 1800 cooperative societies in the district, out of which 309 cooperatives in liquidation, have now been excluded from the voter list. No representative of the concerned societies will now be sent as a delegate in Amravati DCCB. Also, the registration of 177 co-ops has been cancelled. A total of 486 such organizations have been kept out of the electoral program”.

“I have been appointed to finalize the work of the voters list. And after this the RO will be appointed for overseeing the election of the bank, said Divisional Co-Registrar in charge and District Election Officer Rajendra Dabherao to this correspondent on the phone.

There are 21 director posts in the bank.
