Untimely rain: Singh nudges AAP govt to act

The union agriculture minister has nudged Delhi govt of AAP to seek relief from centre for helping the farmers of the national capital. Farmers of Delhi have lost winter crop due to the untimely rains in March.

The apathy of the AAP govt came to fore when it made no representation before the Centre on behalf of the farmers of the state. Galvanized in the wake of such inaction, all seven MPs of the state have petitioned Union Minister seeking help.

A PIB release read “In view of the problems being faced by the farmers of Delhi, the Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh has directed that a letter be sent to the Government of Delhi asking them to submit a memorandum as per the norms and to seek relief for the farmers.”

Earlier, Delhi State BJP and the members of the Parliament from Delhi submitted a memorandum to Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister to explore the possibility of a relief package for the farmers of Delhi who have lost winter crop due to the untimely rains in March 2016.
