Buoyed up with the successful launch of the new crop insurance scheme on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankrati Union Agriculture and Cooperation Minister invited friends and families to celebrate the beginning of the harvest season.
On the occasion, Singh organized a “Dahi Chiwda” party for BJP leaders, cooperators, media persons and others at his residence on Ashoka Road in New Delhi.
Several of his cabinet colleagues as well as senior BJP leaders descended on the Minister’s home on the occasion. Among the ministerial colleagues Ravi Shankar Prasad, Rajvardhan Singh Rathod and others were present.
Senior BJP leaders including Sambit Patra, Shah Nawaz Husain, Sushil Modi and others also made it to Singh’s Ashoka Road residence. Motley of media men including a correspondent of Indian Cooperative was also invited.
Among cooperators not many were seen though, NCUI Chief Executive Dr Dinesh made it to the show. Dr Dinesh greeted Singh and enjoyed the chiwda-dahi party.
Later talking to Indian Cooperative Dinesh said formal invitations were sent from the Minister to several cooperators but few could make it. NCUI President, a Rajya Sabha member was busy celebrating the festival with his party-men in his home district Jhansi.
Several cooperators, however, wished a happy maker sankranti to fellow cooperators. Tweeting on the occasion Dr U S Awasthi , MD IFFCO wrote” Warm greetings & festive wishes of #Pongal #Bihu & #MakarSankranti to all farmers, coops & everyone. May it bring joyful #happiness.”
