Singh finds time for Agri Secretary farewell

Union Agriculture Minister who is mostly busy these days in Assam in the wake of coming Assembly elections found time to participate in the farewell function organized for the retiring Agriculture Secretary Siraj Hussain.

Several senior officers of the Ministry were also present on this occasion.

The low profile Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation in the Ministry of Agriculture Siraj Hussain has retired this month end. A 1979 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh Cadre he worked as Secretary for close to one year.

He played a long inning in the agriculture ministry as he also served earlier as Additional Secretary and Special Secretary.

Mr Hussain was served as Secretary to Ministry of Food Processing Industries. He also served as CMD of Food Corporation of India for over two years.

He would be able to avail the latest pay commission benefits due to his retirement in January, add sources. Besides others, NCDC also organized a farewell party for him at Habitat Centre in Delhi.
