Modi inaugurates Krishi Unnati Mela

 

Speaking on the occasion of inauguration of farmers’ fare “Unnati Mela” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “transformation in India will come from the villages, through the farmers”. The three day show was kicked off with a grand start at Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI), Pusa New Delhi on Saturday.

Modi said govt efforts are focused on ushering in the second green revolution from the eastern parts of India and in this context he lauded the role being played by Sikkim in the field of organic farming.

“First green revolution was concentrated in the western and northern parts but the second green revolution has to come from the east; first green revolution took place in areas with good water supply but second green revolution has to be powered by technology”, said Modi. .

The budget this year has been widely appreciated and this is because this is a budget for the poor, the villages and the farmers, Modi underlined. He also touched on new bima policy, soil health cards and other govt. initiatives.

Krishi Unnati Mela is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI) from March 19-21, 2016. The aim is to exhibit the latest agriculture and allied technologies to farmers.

Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi also gave away Krishi Karman Awards to farmers and visited the Theme Pavilion. He said our farmers should never feel they are alone in tackling problems , we are with them.

IFFCO has also put up its show as its MD Dr U S Awasthi tweeted his followers to visit Hall D-47,48 in Krishi Unnati Mela. Dr. U S Awasthi tweeted “#Agriculture & #Farmers will bring #economic transformation.“
