Kundariya bats for massive irrigation plan in House

Enlisting the steps taken by the govt towards irrigation the Union State Minister Mohanbhai Kundariya informed the Rajya Sabha that the scheme envisages decentralized state level planning and practical execution, allowing the states to draw their irrigation development plans based on district and blocks plans with a horizon of 5 to 7 years.

Kundariya said in the Uppar House the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) has been operationalised from 1st July, 2015 with the objective of enhancing irrigation coverage and improving the delivery system at farm level. The programme aims at end-to-end solutions in irrigation supply chain, viz. water sources, distribution network and farm level applications.

The scheme has four components such as Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (to focus on faster completion of ongoing Major and Medium Irrigation including National Projects),Har Khet Ko Pani (to create new water sources through minor irrigation, Per Drop More Crop(Precision irrigation systems)and  Watershed Development.

During 2015-16, an amount of about Rs.1556 crore was released to States as Central Share and for 2016-17, an amount of Rs. 2340 crore has been allocated under PMKSY per Drop More Crop, Kundariya said.
