Farmers’ issues being treated in holistic manner: Shekhawat

Already on back-foot in the wake of week-long farmers’ strike, Union Minister for States Gajendra Singh Shekhawat listed various steps undertaken by Modi govt to improve the lot of farmers in Asansol in West Bengal. “This government aims to solve farmers’ problems in a holistic manner”, he said.

Interacting with editors and reporters over breakfast Shekhawat said we aim to have best agricultural practices, rural roads, bank accounts and a roof over every farmer by 2022.

Elaborating he said the Government has decided to connect 22 thousands of rural markets under online marketing system to ensure better pricing of farm produce. 485 Kisan Mandis across the country have also been covered under online marketing system for farmers’ welfare.

“Shri Narendra Modi led Government has worked towards ensuring a roof over every head by 2022 through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana”, he claimed. The focus of the present government is on improving the infrastructure of the country at rapid pace. He said that connecting every village through Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana has changed the outlook of road connectivity, he underlined.

Union Minister for States Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also mentoned about Ujjwala and Mudra schemes. “Ensuring smoke-free life for every Indian family through Ujjwala Yojana and creating MUDRA entrepreneurs are priorities of our govt”, he stressed.

Shekhawat also patted his govt for demonetization and said it led to digital form of payment. He lauded the Central Government initiative of Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme ensuring money reaching beneficiaries in their account and thereby, resulting in eradicating the middlemen.
