Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Minister Mukut Bihari Verma recently met Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and had discussion about the development of the cooperative sector of the state in New Delhi. The two leaders are also believed to have discussed the ways and means of ridding UP co-ops of Socialist Party’s influence which has been in control of almost all the co-op bodies in the state, the source adds.
Earlier, in a press conference Verma said preparations for election of cooperatives have been completed and elections will be held on time. Sahakar Bharati has also evinced interest in taking part in the state co-op elections in a big way.
In an exclusive interview given to Indian Cooperative after assuming charge Verma had vowed to rid co-ops of the influence of vested interest. Readers would recall that most of cooperatives of the state are being headed by the family members of SP Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. Oppositions have accused Shiv Pal Yadav-the younger brother of Mulayam of having grabbed all the co-operative positions violating all democratic norms.
Earlier, cooperative minister Mukut Bihari Verma paid a surprise visits to various offices of co-operative department. He expressed his displeasure over irregularities and lack of staff in them.
Sharing the details of his meeting with the UP Minister Radha Mohan wrote on social media“Met Hon’ble Cooperative Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mukut Bihari Verma ji in my office today and discussed development of cooperative sector in the state”.
Later, talking to this correspondent on phone, UP Cooperative Minister said “Yes I went to Agriculture Ministry today and met the Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh; we discussed a host of issues related to cooperative sector of the state.
Verma was elated at Singh’s assurance that he would give all kinds of support for the development of the cooperative sector as well as that of farmers of the state.
“District Cooperative Banks should give loans to farmers at lower rate of interest and strict action will be taken against PACCS which are indulging in black marketing of Urea”, Verma said while talking about issues he had discussed with the Union Minister.
