Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh met his Israeli counterpart Agriculture and Rural Development Minister of Israel, Mr. M.K. Yuri Ariel to further strengthen ties between the two countries.

In the ongoing projects where Israel is actively assisting India the third phase of action plan for the year 2015-18 has been finalized in the meeting. The Indo-Israel action plan aims to cover 21 states in the third phase.

The action plan 2012-15 initiated with the help of Israel in Haryana, Maharashtra, Bihar, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab has been a great success.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Singh said India has enjoyed a lot of benefits from the experiences extended by agriculture experts of Israel in the field of nursery management, protected farming, pro harvest management, horticulture, infrastructural network, canopy management etc.

Experts from Israel are visiting the states concerned for the exhibitions, training and to set up state of the art centers. Both the countries are committed to help each other in this sector, Singh added.

Another action plan has been formulated for the year 2016-2020 between Indian Agricultural Research Council and Government of Israel. In addition to this, negotiations have been made to set up a joint fund for research and extension education programmes.
