The Cooperation Department of Sikkim will celebrate Cooperative Week from June 29 to July 6 to commemorate the formation of the Ministry of Cooperation and promote the vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” (Prosperity through Cooperation).
The week-long programme will feature a series of activities across the State aimed at strengthening awareness about the cooperative movement and its role in socio-economic development and community empowerment. The celebrations will begin with an inaugural function involving cooperative society representatives, government officials and stakeholders.
A key highlight of the observance will be the launch of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) Portal, designed to enhance digital governance, simplify administrative processes and improve transparency and service delivery for cooperative societies.
Other activities include GPS tagging of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), tree plantation drives, awareness campaigns in all six districts, panel discussions, van activation programmes, distribution of micro ATMs and share certificates.
The Department said the initiative is expected to boost cooperative membership, encourage diversification of activities and strengthen the cooperative movement across Sikkim.
