Tribal Co-ops get Boost with Launch of RISA Brand
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs and TRIFED have launched “RISA – Timeless Tribal,” a premium brand and exclusive retail store in New Delhi to promote tribal textiles, embroideries and handicrafts through cooperative-led marketing and livelihood support.

The initiative aims to strengthen tribal cooperatives and artisan clusters by improving market access, design development, packaging and product diversification. TRIFED officials said the project would create sustainable livelihood opportunities for tribal weavers and artisans while preserving traditional crafts and indigenous knowledge systems.

The first phase covers products such as Assam’s Eri and Muga silk, Odisha’s Kotpad cotton and Dongria embroidery, and Toda embroidery from Tamil Nadu. The initiative is also expected to empower women artisans and expand the reach of tribal cooperative products in premium domestic and global markets.
