The National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) organized an online awareness and capacity building programme on “Financial Governance for Multi-State Cooperative Societies as per General Financial Rules (GFR), 2017.”

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Rajeev Sharma, Executive Director (Finance & NCCE), NCUI, who stressed the need for stronger financial governance, transparency and accountability in the cooperative sector during his opening remarks.

Around 100 representatives from Multi-State Cooperative Societies across the country participated in the programme.

The keynote address was delivered by CA Anurag Dang, Deputy Director (Finance), NCUI. He elaborated on key aspects of financial governance including financial discipline, budgetary controls, prudential management, internal control systems, audit mechanisms, fraud prevention and compliance practices.

The session also focused on delegation of financial powers, transparency in financial operations and outcome-based budgeting for sustainable cooperative growth.

NCUI officials said the initiative was aimed at strengthening governance systems in cooperative institutions through professional education, training and institutional capacity building.
