A major push towards strengthening cooperative collaboration in Northeast India was witnessed during the “Cooperative Samvad” programme held at Aizawl, Mizoram, where leaders of cooperative unions from several northeastern states came together to discuss joint initiatives and future strategies.

The delegation was led by Mangal Jit Rai, who also serves as Chief Coordinator of the North East State Cooperative Unions’ Forum (NESCUF). Representatives from Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Sikkim participated in the interaction hosted by Mizoram State Cooperative Union.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rai said the “Cooperative Samvad” initiative has shown that unity, dialogue, and collective action can strengthen the cooperative movement across the Northeast.

He stressed the need for inter-state study exchanges, joint training programmes, digital cooperative development, youth participation, and women empowerment initiatives.

The meeting also highlighted efforts by the Sikkim government under Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang to strengthen cooperatives through dairy incentives, awards, and rural support programmes.

The programme concluded with a cultural presentation showcasing Mizoram’s rich heritage.
