In a major boost to Sikkim’s cooperative dairy sector, the Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. inaugurated its first-ever dairy outlet at MG Marg in Gangtok on Thursday.

The outlet was formally opened in the presence of chief guest Puran Kumar Gurung, while senior dignitaries including N.B. Dahal and the MLA of Gangtok attended the programme as special guests.

Built around the theme “Village to Gangtok and Farm to MG Marg,” the initiative aims to create a direct market link between rural milk producers and urban consumers. The new outlet will offer fresh and quality dairy products to residents and tourists while helping local farmers secure better, market access and stable income opportunities.

The launch is expected to strengthen the state’s dairy distribution network and encourage sustainable livelihoods for cooperative dairy farmers across Sikkim. Locals visiting MG Marg welcomed the initiative, seeing it as a positive step toward promoting homegrown dairy products in the capital city.
