In a move aimed at strengthening grassroots institutions, Robert H. Touthang, Regional Director (NE Region) of National Cooperative Development Corporation, held detailed discussions with Lalnilawma, Minister of Rural Development, Government of Mizoram, and Zosangzuali Pachau, CEO of the Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MzSRLM), on expanding the cooperative framework in the state.
The meeting focused on integrating Self-Help Group federations into the cooperative fold to enhance their institutional strength and access to financial support. Mizoram currently has around 84 SHG Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) under MzSRLM, of which four have already been registered under the Mizoram Cooperative Societies Act. Efforts are underway to bring the remaining CLFs under the cooperative structure.
During the interaction, NCDC highlighted its schemes, activities, and key initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation, and presented a compendium detailing its interventions to support cooperative development.
