Co-operative Banks best suited to put idle funds to work: Anaskar

In a compassionate and forward-looking move, the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank has launched a major welfare initiative to support retired employees facing serious health challenges.

At its administrative meeting held under the leadership of Vidyadhar Anaskar, the bank approved the “Ex-Employee Health Support Scheme,” reinforcing its commitment to employee welfare beyond retirement.

Under the scheme, eligible retired staff suffering from critical illnesses will receive monthly financial assistance of up to Rs 5,000 from the Employees’ Welfare Fund. The support aims to ease the burden of long-term and costly treatments for diseases such as cancer, kidney failure, paralysis, liver failure, Parkinson’s disease, and tuberculosis.

With limited income sources after retirement, this initiative offers crucial financial relief and dignity to former employees who served the bank with dedication. The scheme also complements the bank’s existing financial assistance for surgical expenses, which will continue as before.

Retired employees are encouraged to contact the bank’s Mumbai head office or regional offices for assistance.
