In a significant development, the Arbitration Court in Lucknow has declared the September 19–20, 2024 elections of Shree Nidhi Cooperative Credit Society Ltd. as invalid, citing serious procedural irregularities.
The order, issued recently, directs the Assistant Commissioner and Assistant Registrar, Cooperative, Lucknow, to conduct fresh elections as per the society’s bylaws.
The society, registered under the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Societies Act, 1965, reportedly conducted its first elections without informing all 48 members, raising concerns over transparency and fairness. Additionally, discrepancies in the registered office address used for election notification further strengthened the case against the validity of the process.
Following complaints, members approached the district administration, leading to arbitration proceedings. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar), acting as arbitrator, accepted the claims and annulled the election process.
While attempts are being made to challenge the ruling in a tribunal, members claim that justice has prevailed. The decision paves the way for a fair and transparent electoral process in the society.
