The Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Limited organized an awareness and training programme on Good Hygienic Practices (GHP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) on March 19, 2026, at NHPC Hall, Middle Kambal, to promote clean milk production and scientific dairy farming.

Chief Guest Pushkar Khatiwara, along with Managing Director Dr. T. B. Ghatani and other officials, addressed farmers on balanced cattle nutrition, hygienic milking, clean handling, and disease prevention, including vaccination against LSD and FMD. Emphasis was also laid on livestock insurance, deworming, and maintaining milk quality.

Dr. Ghatani highlighted that 24 cooperative societies in the Rakdong–Tintek belt supplied 7.44 lakh litres of milk in 2024–25, benefiting over 700 farmers. The Union distributed nearly Rs 120 crore to dairy farmers last year.

Outstanding societies and individuals were felicitated, while training for dairy cooperative secretaries was also conducted to strengthen governance and digital transparency.
