Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated major cooperative housing initiatives in Mumbai, underlining Maharashtra’s continued focus on strengthening the sector.

A Sewa, Margadarshan and Prashikshan Kendra established by the Mumbai Jilha Co-operative Housing Federation Ltd was inaugurated at Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli. On the same occasion, Bhoomipujan of Sahakar Bhavan, being developed by Mumbai Jilha Madhyavarti Sahakari Bank Ltd, was performed at Pratiksha Nagar, Sion.

Maharashtra, considered the cradle of India’s cooperative movement, continues to witness a strong role of cooperative housing societies in urban development. A key highlight was the emphasis on granting land ownership rights to cooperative housing societies, a move expected to facilitate faster redevelopment.

The Mumbai Jilha Madhyavarti Sahakari Bank’s contribution to the housing sector was also noted, particularly in enabling home ownership for common citizens.

Prominent leaders including Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Ashish Shelar, Pankaj Bhoyar and Pravin Darekar were present at the event.
