The Co-operative Election Authority has announced the election program for the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Limited (FISHCOPFED), with polling scheduled for July 3, 2026.
The District Magistrate, South East Delhi, has been appointed as the Returning Officer to conduct the elections under the amended MSCS Act.
The announcement follows the expiry of the Board’s tenure on February 25, 2026, after which an Administrator was appointed to manage the federation.
Currently, Shailendra Singh, Director at the National Cooperative Development Corporation, is serving as Administrator and had requested the conduct of elections.
As per the schedule, the delegate selection process will begin in May, with the final voter list to be published on June 12. Nominations will be filed between June 13 and June 16, followed by scrutiny and withdrawal. The 14-member Board will be elected by 89 member societies, along with the Chairman and Vice-Chairman.
With the announcement of the elections of FISHCOPFED, there are discussions in cooperative circles about when the elections of the apex body of cooperatives, NCUI will be announced, as the outgoing Board’s tenure expires on 22nd November 2025. It is learnt that a draft letter for initiating the election process in NCUI has been prepared and will be sent to the CEA soon.
