Maharashtra Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil has clarified that there is no rise in complaints related to digital fraud, credit cards, loan transactions, or recovery practices against urban cooperative banks in Mumbai and Pune.
Responding to a joint query raised by several MLAs, including Amit Zanak and Vijay Wadettiwar, the Minister stated that no such complaints have been received by the offices of the Divisional Joint Registrars of Cooperative Societies in Mumbai and Pune.
He noted that 42 urban cooperative banks fall under the Mumbai division and 43 under the Pune division, and none have reported issues related to digital transactions or credit card grievances.
On reports of a 42% rise in complaints to the Reserve Bank of India, the Minister said information is being sought from the RBI.
He added that if any complaints are received, action will be taken under the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act, 1960.
