National Cooperative Exports Limited has exported 54 different products to 29 countries since its inception, with total exports valued at Rs 5,731 crore, according to information provided in the Rajya Sabha. The details were shared by Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah in a written reply.
NCEL has taken several initiatives to strengthen the global marketing of cooperative products. These include developing market linkages in 29 countries and signing Memorandums of Understanding with foreign agencies and countries to promote the export of cooperative goods. The organisation has also signed MoUs with Export Promotion Councils, Boards and cooperative institutions to facilitate international trade.
To streamline operations, NCEL has set up dedicated divisions for Fruits & Vegetables and for Grains & Spices. It is also functioning as a merchant exporter for aquaculture products, particularly shrimp.
The organisation regularly participates in exhibitions and buyer–seller meets to promote cooperative products in global markets. It has also developed a multilingual AI-enabled digital learning platform for farmers.
The government aims to further expand cooperative exports through product diversification and by exploring new markets in East and West Africa, Europe, the UAE and select Asian countries.
