The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) recently conducted a two-day Board Orientation Programme for the Board of Directors of Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative Ltd, aimed at strengthening leadership and governance capabilities within the cooperative institution.
The programme focused on enhancing institutional understanding and improving the effectiveness of cooperative functioning. Experts from NDDB led a series of sessions and interactive discussions covering key aspects such as the role of NDDB in the cooperative ecosystem, responsibilities of board members and office bearers, governance standards, and business ethics. Participants were also briefed on the functioning of credit and non-credit cooperative institutions.
Case-based discussions formed an important part of the orientation, allowing directors to analyse real-life governance challenges and explore best practices in cooperative management.
As part of the programme, the CAMPCO directors visited facilities of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, including a chocolate plant at Mogar, to gain insights into processing operations and product manufacturing within the cooperative sector.
The participants also undertook an exposure visit to the Institute of Rural Management Anand, where they interacted with faculty and learned about the role of professional management and academic institutions in strengthening India’s cooperative ecosystem.
