In the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Cooperation Minister Babasaheb Patil confirmed that complaints alleging financial and administrative irregularities at the Parbhani District Central Cooperative Bank are under official scrutiny.
The matter was raised by several MLAs, citing allegations of financial mismanagement amounting to Rs 82.40 crore across branches including Pathri, Manwat, Basmat, Gangakhed, Vazur and Shelgaon, among others.
According to the Minister, the Divisional Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, in January 2025 directed the District Deputy Registrar, Parbhani, to submit a detailed report. Subsequent communications were issued to the bank’s Chief Executive Officer and to the Cooperation Commissioner, Pune, during 2025 and early 2026. Complaints from local representatives alleged that necessary documents and reports had not been furnished for several years.
Patil informed the House that an inspection is currently underway under Section 89A of the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act through the Divisional Joint Registrar (Audit). The inquiry report is awaited, and further action will be considered based on its findings.
